JAMES - a spirit bottle for small progressive distilleries

in collaboration with an Austrian glassware company

As part of a competition during the first year of my studies the task was to design a new spirit bottle for a glassware company.

With an open brief to start with, I went out to the Austrian countryside to talk to a local distillery to understand their needs and the way their products are marketed

The conclusion:
Small progressive spirit distilleries are expanding their product portfolio. While they used to only produce traditional Austrian fruit spirits, they are now entering the global market of craft gin and whisky.

Therefore I proposed a simple design for a standard bottle which in 2018 could have filled a gap on the market of glassmaking companies.

The design proposal James was the awarded winner of the competition.



"James" is a bottle for small distilleries across Austria and Germany that invites their personal branding to take the stage.
